Alexey Yakovlev (born 1982) is an amateur artist from Kaliningrad. He started practicing painting four years ago. The artist himself says that he aims for visual simplicity, as he wants his works to be understood not only by art critics, but also by a regular viewer. At first glance, his paintings seem primitive, but they are not.
In his work, Yakovlev is drawn towards pop art. By treating art as an image factory, he can use Warhol's clean, bright, almost fluorescent colors and feel free to refer to such classic genres, as still-life, portrait and self-portrait, and to traditional themes from his own point of view.
